The Chicago Bears (4-4) released their final injury report ahead of Sunday’s Week 10 game against the New England Patriots (2-7), which included some notable details.
The Bears ruled out safety Jaquan Brisker for the fourth straight game as he remains in the concussion protocol. They will also be without their top three players in Braxton Jones and Darnell Wright, who are dealing with knee injuries, and rookie Kiran Amegadjie, who is already dealing with a calf injury. But there are key contributors back on the line, including defensive end Montez Sweat and cornerback Kyler Gordon.
Here’s the final Bears injury report heading into Sunday:
Get out
- LT Kiran Amegadjie (calf)
- S Jaquan Brisker (concussion)
- LT Braxton Jones (knee)
- RT Darnell Wright (knee)
The Bears punted on four plays against the Patriots, including all three of their offensive plays. Braxton Jones injured his knee against the Chiefs in Week 8, and will miss the second straight game. That means it will be Larry Borom making the second start. Meanwhile, Darnell Wright injured his knee in last week’s loss and is officially out. There are doubts about the lineup, but the expected move is for Matt Pryor to switch from right guard to right tackle as Ryan Bates returns from injury and can cover right guard. . Rookie kicker Kiran Amegadjie is out for the second game as he deals with a calf injury. Safety Jaquan Brisker will miss his fourth straight game after suffering a concussion in the Week 5 win over the Carolina Panthers. That means it will be Elijah Hicks making his fourth straight start against Kevin Byard.
Suspicious
- *OL Ryan Bates (shoulder)
- LB Noah Sewell (knee)
- DE Darrell Taylor (knee)
The Bears have three players officially questionable for Sunday, including guard/center Ryan Bates, who is expected to be released from injured reserve before the game. Bates’ return comes at the right time for an offensive line that has been plagued by injuries and is on a three-game skid. Bates figures to step into the right guard spot and Matt Pryor is expected to kick in Wright’s place. Elsewhere, defensive end Darrell Taylor is nursing a knee injury this week, but the arrow is pointed high. Also, quarterback Noah Sewell is battling a knee injury.
Removed from accident report
- CB Kyler Gordon (hamstring)
- LG Teven Jenkins (knee)
- CB Terrell Smith (ankle)
- DE Montez Sweat (light)
The Bears return some key starters on offense and defense this week. The biggest are defensive ends Montez Sweat, who missed last week with a shin injury, and cornerback Kyler Gordon, who missed the last two games with a hamstring injury. Chicago is getting more depth with the return of Terell Smith, who suffered an ankle injury in last week’s loss. Left guard Teven Jenkins, who has been nursing a knee injury, is also good to go, which is good news for a depleted offensive line.
In the list of damaged sites / PUP
LS Patrick Scales: Scales underwent back surgery last month to repair a disc issue, which put him on the IR to start the season. He will miss at least the first four games of the season, and is eligible to return in Week 5 against the Panthers. With Scales on the sidelines, it will be local product Scott Daly who will be famous for a long time.
TE Stephen Carlson: Carlson suffered a back injury during practice before Week 4, which put him on the IR. He will have to miss at least the next four games, making him eligible to return in Week 9 when Chicago takes on the Cardinals.
WR Nsimba Webster: Webster was seriously injured during the preseason game against the Chiefs after the first quarter of the game. He was placed on IR (not designated for return), which officially ends his 2024 season.
RB Ian Wheeler: Wheeler, a “Hard Knocks” favorite, tore his ACL in the preseason finale against Kansas City. Even if the undrafted rookie is able to return to the center when he’s ready, his season of promise is over before it even begins.
